Not sure if Rhodiola is right for you? Try our Rhodiola tea for a gentle, less-potent introduction to the benefits of Rhodiola. Or simply try it for the taste!

This is a loose-siftings tea, so you’ll need your own measuring and steeping tools. There are a few different brewing methods you can try:

HERBAL INFUSION METHOD (yields a gentler, less bitter tea)

What’s Needed:
– A tea pot or teacup, plus a mesh or metal strainer if desired
– Dried Rhodiola rosea roots
– Water just below a boil (~185℉)
– Optional additions like honey, milk, or lemon

Instructions:
1. Measure 2 tsp for each desired cup of tea into a teacup or a tea pot if making
more than one cup (2 tsp root for each 8oz water). Use a mesh bag or fine
metal strainer if you have one and crush the roots for better brewing.
If you want a stronger decoction, use 1 Tbsp per 8oz water.

2. Pour very hot water over roots and steep covered for 5-15 minutes
depending on desired strength (5 for a light cup, 15 for stronger tea).

3. Once steeped and slightly cooled add honey, or an alternative to sweeten if
desired. Other great additions are lemon or milk.
As a stimulant, Rhodiola may interfere with sleep, so it’s best to drink your
tea earlier in the day.

4. If you prepared a large pot to last you the week, cover and store in
fridge. Rhodiola tea can be enjoyed as a tonic warm or cold but do not re-
boil the brewed tea to not deteriorate medicinal compounds. The roots can
be used for a second and third brewing, getting milder with each pour.

HERBAL DECOCTION METHOD (yields a more robust, slightly astringent brew)

What’s Needed:
– A pot for boiling, plus a mesh or metal strainer if desired
– Dried Rhodiola rosea roots
– Cold water
– Optional additions like honey, milk, or lemon

Instructions:
1. Measure 2 tsp for each desired cup of tea directly into a pot. This method
works great for larger amounts of tea to drink throughout the week. (2.5
Tbsp per quart of water.)
If you want a stronger decoction, use up to 1 Tbsp per 8oz water.

2. Pour cold water over roots and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for
15-20+ minutes depending on desired strength (15 for a less bitter cup, 20
for stronger and more bitter & astringent tea). Remember, bitters are great
for gut health!

ALTERNATIVE METHOD using a COFFEE MAKER (yields a brew between an infusion and decoction)

What’s Needed:
– A coffee pot or French press
– Dried Rhodiola rosea roots
– Cold water
– Optional additions like honey, milk, or lemon

Instructions:
1. Crush or grind roots and measure 1 tsp for each desired cup of tea directly
into a coffee filter. Add the correct amount of water to your coffee maker.
(i.e., 4 Tbsp root for a 12-cup pot of water)

2. Brew as you would a pot of coffee!

3. Once brewed and slightly cooled add honey, or an alternative to sweeten if

5. Enjoy!
